Can you do the Hà Giang Loop in 2 days? Yes, if you are willing to skip a few stops and spend more time on the bike. The itinerary below keeps the very best: Quản Bạ Heaven's Gate, a morning paragliding flight over the Tam Sơn valley, Đồng Văn old quarter and the Mã Pí Lèng pass — then back to Hà Giang City by the evening of day two.

Who is the 2-day Loop for?

Weekend travellers with one day to get from Hà Nội and 2 days on the Loop.
Riders used to mountain passes, or those travelling with an easy rider.
Anyone wanting a first "taste" of Hà Giang who plans to come back for the full loop.

If you have more time, the 4-day, 3-night Hà Giang Loop or 3-day, 2-night itineraries are much more relaxed.

Day 1 — Hà Giang City → Quản Bạ (fly) → Yên Minh → Đồng Văn

Total distance about 150 km. Set off early.

5:30–6:00: leave Hà Giang City on Highway 4C.
Around 7:15: quick stop at Quản Bạ Heaven's Gate to photograph the Cô Tiên twin mountains.
7:30–9:30: fly at the Quản Bạ flying site (Km45). Mornings are usually calm, often with cloud lying in the valley. Choose a 10–15 minute tandem paragliding flight or a 15-minute paramotor flight.
10:00: continue to Yên Minh (about 55 km) for lunch.
Afternoon: ride the Chín Khoanh (Nine Bends) slope up to Đồng Văn old quarter (Km150). Overnight in Đồng Văn.

Flying early is the key to this itinerary: finish flying before 10:00 and you still have plenty of time for the afternoon mountain stretch. Book the earliest slot and add a note that you're doing a 2-day Loop.

Day 2 — Đồng Văn → Mã Pí Lèng → heading back

6:00: ride about 20 km up to the Mã Pí Lèng pass (Km170) to see the Nho Quế river canyon in the early morning.
8:00: depending on your energy, continue about 15 km down to Mèo Vạc for breakfast, or return to Đồng Văn.

From there you have two ways back:

On a 2-day Loop, going back the way you came is usually safer and easier to time. The Du Già road is beautiful but quiet, with many narrow sections — only choose it if you're with an easy rider and leave Mèo Vạc before 9:00.

What if you can't fly on day one?

Mountain winds change quickly. If the weather doesn't allow flying on the morning of day 1, the team will reschedule for free. With a 2-day itinerary you have two options:

Fly on the way back (afternoon of day 2), if you reach Quản Bạ before about 16:00 and the wind allows. Late-afternoon slots also include a sunset package.
Keep your booking for a later trip — at no cost.

Tips for a 2-day Loop without burning out

Pack light: a small backpack, a windbreaker, a thin raincoat.
Have a light breakfast before flying — don't skip it, but don't overeat either.
Don't ride mountain passes after dark. If you're running late, stay in Yên Minh or Quản Bạ instead of pushing on.
Fill up the tank every time you pass through a town.
Leave big luggage in Hà Giang City if you're riding a motorbike.

On a 2-day Loop, should you fly in Đồng Văn instead of Quản Bạ?

Đồng Văn also has paragliding, but only paragliding, no paramotor, and flights are scheduled in advance depending on the wind. On a 2-day itinerary that is already tight, Quản Bạ is the easier choice:

It's right on the first stage, about 45 km from the city, so easy to time.
It has both paragliding and paramotor, so if the ridge wind isn't right yet there's still the powered option.
Pick-up and drop-off within the Quản Bạ area is included in the ticket price.

Frequently asked questions

Can you visit Lũng Cú on a 2-day Hà Giang Loop?

It's possible, but very rushed. Lũng Cú is a detour of about 25 km each way from Đồng Văn. If you want to go, skip Mèo Vạc on day 2 and return the way you came.

Paragliding or paramotor when short on time?

Both take about 1,5–2 hours for the whole session. The paramotor takes off from a flat field, so it depends slightly less on the ridge wind direction; paragliding is smoother and quieter.
