To go paragliding in Vietnam, head to the northern mountains such as Mù Cang Chải, the Sa Pa area and — from autumn 2026 — Quản Bạ in Hà Giang; in central Vietnam there's the Sơn Trà peninsula (Đà Nẵng); and in the Central Highlands there's Đà Lạt. Each place has its own scenery and flying season. This article gives an overview of the best-known flying areas, and why Hà Giang is well worth considering if you're riding the Hà Giang Loop.

Well-known paragliding areas in Vietnam
Mù Cang Chải (Yên Bái)
Famous for its rice terraces, especially beautiful when the rice ripens. The Khau Phạ pass is a name closely linked with paragliding in Vietnam, often hosting flying events in autumn.
The Sa Pa area (Lào Cai)
A high mountain region with terraced valleys and a cool climate, and a major tourist destination in the Northwest. Paragliding in this area is popular with many travellers.
Sơn Trà (Đà Nẵng)
Paragliding with views over the sea and the city — a very different setting from the northern mountains. A good fit if you're travelling in central Vietnam.
Đà Lạt (Lâm Đồng)
Pine hills, lakes and a cool climate all year round. A familiar choice for travellers in the south.
Hà Giang — Quản Bạ and Đồng Văn
The newest flying site on the list: the Tam Sơn valley in Quản Bạ, Km45 of the Hà Giang Loop, run by Mebayluon Paragliding and open from 15/10/2026. In Đồng Văn, the team runs paragliding on a pre-arranged schedule depending on the wind.
