Sunset paragliding in Hà Giang is a flight during the late-afternoon "golden hour" over the Quản Bạ valley, when the low sun turns the terraced fields gold and makes every tai mèo (cat-ear) limestone outcrop stand out. Why is sunset such a special time?

At midday, the overhead sun makes the rocky mountains look flat and the colours harsh. In the late afternoon, the low sun casts long shadows, the mountains gain depth, and the fields and river glow. The air is usually gentler and the wind calms down too.
On the Rocky Plateau, sunsets are all the more beautiful thanks to the layered landscape: the nearby ridges darken, the distant ones fade to blue, and the sky above changes colour by the minute. From under the wing, you see all those layers at once.
What time is the sunset flight?
The Quản Bạ flying site operates from 06:30 to 18:30. The exact take-off time for the sunset package depends on the season (the sun sets earlier in winter than in summer) and on the day's wind conditions. The team will time it so you're in the air when the light is at its best and land while there's still enough daylight.
In general, arrive at the meeting point early enough before your flight to hear the briefing and get geared up, because the window of beautiful light is short.
