Tips for planning backup time on the Hà Giang Loop
Quản Bạ is at Km45, the first stage of a Loop of about 350 km. That's a big advantage: you have several chances to pass through or come back.
Option 1: Book day one, keep the last day as backup
Day 1: Hà Giang city → Quản Bạ, fly in the afternoon (if conditions are good).
If postponed: carry on to Yên Minh – Đồng Văn – Mã Pí Lèng – Mèo Vạc – Du Già as planned.
Last day: return via the Du Già → Quản Bạ road and make up your flight before heading down to Hà Giang city.
Option 2: Stay two nights in Quản Bạ
Ideal if you're not in a hurry: you get two mornings and two afternoons to pick the best window, with time to see Heaven's Gate and the Cô Tiên twin mountains too.
Option 3: Fly at Đồng Văn if Quản Bạ isn't good
The Đồng Văn flying site (Km150) offers paragliding, scheduled in advance depending on the wind. If the forecast for Đồng Văn looks better on the day you pass through, ask the team. Note that Đồng Văn has no paramotor.
