How to get to the Quản Bạ flying site

The Quản Bạ paragliding and paramotor site is at Km45 of the Hà Giang Loop, about 45 km from Hà Giang city along National Road 4C — roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by road. There are three ways up: ride a motorbike yourself along the Loop, take a bus on the Đồng Văn or Mèo Vạc route, or book the flight team's 4-seat car. Which one suits you depends on whether you're doing the full Loop or just coming up to fly and heading back the same day. This article goes through each leg in turn, from Hanoi all the way to the meeting point.

Where is Quản Bạ on the map?

The flying site is in Quản Bạ commune, Tuyên Quang province, the first stage as you leave Hà Giang city for Đồng Văn. The Lùng Tám valley lies just below Quản Bạ Heaven's Gate, with the Cô Tiên twin mountains, the winding Miện River, tai mèo (cat-ear) limestone peaks, and maize and buckwheat fields spread across the Rocky Plateau. Paragliders (PG) foot-launch from a mountain top at about 950 m, paramotors take off from the valley floor beside the Miện River, and the landing field is at about 450 m.

From Hanoi to Hà Giang city

Most travellers reach Quản Bạ via Hà Giang city, the starting point (Km0) of the Hà Giang Loop. From Hanoi, travel up to Hà Giang city by bus or private car, spend the night, then continue up to Quản Bạ the next morning. That way you arrive at the flying site feeling fresh, rather than stepping off a long-distance bus straight onto the take-off.

If you plan to fly in an early-morning slot, staying the night before in the Quản Bạ area is the most relaxed option.

From Hà Giang city to Quản Bạ: three ways to go

1. Ride or rent a motorbike along the Loop

This is the most popular option for Hà Giang Loop travellers. From Hà Giang city, take QL4C towards Đồng Văn, climb the Bắc Sum pass, go through Quản Bạ Heaven's Gate (stop to admire the Cô Tiên twin mountains), then descend into the centre of Quản Bạ commune.

• Pros: you set your own schedule and can stop for photos anywhere.
• The road is good but has many bends; mornings are often foggy, so ride slowly with your lights on.
• If you're not used to mountain passes, consider hiring an easy rider (a local driver) to take you.

2. Bus on the Hà Giang – Đồng Văn / Mèo Vạc route

Buses from Hà Giang bus station to Đồng Văn and Mèo Vạc all pass through Quản Bạ. Get off in the commune centre and message the flight team for directions to the meeting point.

• Timetables and fares change with the season, so ask at the bus station or the bus company a day in advance.
• Pick an early bus so you make the good morning flying window.

3. The flight team's 4-seat car

The most convenient option if you're staying in Hà Giang city and just coming up to fly and going back.

• Price: 500.000 đ / 4-seat car / one way.
• If you need both directions, select quantity "2" when booking.
• Groups of more than 4 need an extra car — for example, 5–8 guests means 2 cars.
• Select pick-up from Hà Giang city in the add-ons step when you book, and note where you're staying.

Within Quản Bạ: transfers are included in the ticket

Once you reach the meeting point, you don't have to worry about getting around. Meeting point and arrival time

• Meeting point: Quản Bạ commune, Tuyên Quang province. The exact location is sent via Zalo/WhatsApp when the team confirms your booking.
• Arrive 30 minutes before your flight time for check-in, the briefing and getting into your gear.
• Flying hours: 06:30–18:30. The best windows are usually 07:00–11:00 and 15:00–17:00. The exact time is set on the morning of your flight, after the pilots have checked the wind.
• The Quản Bạ flying site opens from 15/10/2026.

Because flight times depend on the wind, allow a little extra travel time and check the flying weather forecast the day before. On the morning of your flight, the team will message you the confirmed flight time.

Combining your flight with the Hà Giang Loop

• Clockwise (Hà Giang city → Quản Bạ → Yên Minh → Đồng Văn): fly in the morning at Quản Bạ, then carry on the same day. This is the most sensible way to plan it.
• Anticlockwise (coming back from Mèo Vạc, Đồng Văn): book an afternoon slot to catch the last light over the rock mountains before heading down to the city.
• Just flying and heading back: book the 4-seat car both ways, leave early, fly in the morning slot and be back in the city by the afternoon.
