When are clouds most likely in Quản Bạ?

There's no fixed schedule, but there are a few general patterns in the northern mountains:

• Time of day: early morning, from when the flying site opens (06:30) until mid-morning, is when the clouds in the valley are at their best.
• The previous day's weather: after a day of light rain or high humidity followed by a clear, windless night, the next morning often brings mist and low cloud.
• Season: the changes of season and winter in the highlands tend to bring more misty mornings. However, clouds that are too thick or drizzle mean no flying.

How does the cloud-chasing package differ from the standard one?

The cloud-chasing package is scheduled for the early morning and gives you up to 22 minutes in the air. More time means more chances for the pilot to wait for the perfect cloud moment, climb higher and fly further from the take-off.

Why chase clouds by paramotor?

Paragliding (PG) takes off from the mountainside at 950 m and needs the right wind; on still early mornings — when the clouds are at their best — a paraglider struggles to hold altitude for long. That's why there is no long cloud-chasing package by paraglider.

Paramotor (PPG) takes off from the flat field by the river and has an engine for thrust, so it can climb at will and hold a 15–22 minute flight more reliably on calm early mornings. The trade-off is the engine noise.

Tips to boost your chances of seeing clouds

1. Stay overnight in Quản Bạ the night before your flight. Free pick-up within the Nậm Đăm, Cán Tỉ, Lùng Tám and Tam Sơn area means you can be there first thing in the morning.
2. Leave a spare day in your itinerary. Since rescheduling is free, you can move to the next morning if the sky is perfectly clear or the clouds are too thick.

4. Dress warmly: early mornings up high are colder than down in the valley, especially in winter.
